WHAT I ASKED FOR, WHAT I NEEDED
When I got my new dog
I asked for strength that I might rear her perfectly;
I was given weakness that I might feed her more treats.
I asked for good health that I might rest easy;
I was given a "special needs" dog that I might know nurturing.
I asked for an obedient dog that I might feel proud;
I was given stubbornness that I might feel humble.
I asked for compliance that I might feel masterful;
I was given a clown that I might laugh
I asked for a companion that I might not feel lonely;
I was given a best friend that I would feel loved.
I got nothing I asked for,
But everything that I needed.
I got a dog

I can't thank you enough for rescuing a dachsie and giving Bitzy a forever home!
We have 4 dachshunds in the family. We bought Shania in 1996 from a breeder in Beaver Falls, PA. My eldest daughter Kelli wanted one so a friend of ours who worked with dachsie rescue put us in touch with Brandy and we drove from Virginia to Massachusetts to get her. A year later, Kiereney wanted her own dog so we rescued Katie from Rhode Island. About a year later, we rescued Michael's dog Macon right where we lived in Richmond, VA. Right now Brandy and Katie live with my daughters about 2 hours south of here. Shania lives with us and when Michael started college, I kept Macon with me. I've already told him he's not getting Grandma's girl back! lol He feels better me having her since he's been involved with college and now the Army. If I could, I would have a houseful!! We used to participate in the Dachshund Underground Railroad in Virginia, helping to transport rescued dachsies to their forever homes. Bitzy won't find more love or care than with you. Have a great weekend with your new little one.
What a beautiful new addition you have! We too rescued our wiener Chauncey - he is a huge handful but we love him anyway.
Thanks for keeping John in your prayers. I really appreciate it.
Hallie
