Thanksgiving..2011

I am finally down to write my blog about our Thanksgiving. I was so exhausted that I could not do anything Sunday. I was so tired, and hurting, I stayed in tears most the day, but it's worth it, having the kids here.

On Wednesday, around 2pm, my son Jeremy and his wife, Amanda and son Brice arrived. I cooked a meal for them for supper, and got that all cleaned up, and about 9pm my daughter Carrie, and her 4 children, Taylor, Morgan, Sydney and Cooper and hubby Chad arrived. They had eaten, so didn't have to feed them.

On Tuesday, I had baked 3 loaves homemade pumpkin bread, and 3 loaves homemade banana nut bread. They all love to eat those for breakfast. I think if I didn't bake the pumpkin bread, my son in law, Chad would disown me..LOL. If I didn't bake the banana nut bread, my daughter Carrie would..LOL.. My daughter brought the desserts for Thanksgiving.

I cooked, a ham, we deep fried our turkey. I made dressing, homemade gravy, broccoli rice casserole, green bean casserole, homemade Mac and cheese, sweet potato souffle', rolls, Watergate salad, deviled eggs, & cranberry sauce. We sat down about 3pm to eat. We were stuffed!!! We cleaned up, and we all laid down for a small nap, woke up about 6 and the parents went Black Friday shopping while Grandpa and Nanny kept the grands.

Friday we had leftovers, and the parents did alittle more shopping. Then Saturday was football day. We watched the 1st game which started at noon, I believe. We watched Michigan beat Ohio State, which was the 1st time in 7 yrs, which I was delighted. I am not a Ohio Buckeye fan, although we live in Buckeye land. We are Michigan fans. We ordered pizza before the evening game. Then the GAME came on at 7:45pm. South Carolina Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers. It's a big rival game. We are HUGE SC Gamecock fans, as I was born and raised there, as well as my children, The Gamecocks beat the Tigers, and oh was it a good day!!! Both our teams won, which made everyone happy.

The kids all left Sunday morning at 5am. I was so exhausted from all 5 grands here, and their parents, all the cooking and before hand cleaning, getting things ready, etc. I slept in late today, and took some pain meds and I am feeling alittle better tonight.

My blood sugars today were VERY high, so I changed out my insulin pump site, as I think I was going into DKA. My line that was inside my belly was crimped, so I was not getting the correct amount of insulin. I was sick, disoriented, and spilling major ketones. Not good. I love the insulin pump, but that's the one bad thing about it. If you get a crimp in your line, you don't know until it's almost to late.

I do have some pics to share. I forgot to take any of the meal itself.

Oh and I forgot to mention, my daughter brought her 3 dogs, so we also had 6 dogs!! Here are 4 of them. My 3 and my daughters doxie.

Here is my daughters chihuahua.

Here is my son in law, Cooper and their big dog, Jackson.

Sleeping arrangements were cramped but doable. I have a quest room, that my daughter and son in law slept in. My son and daughter in law, slept in the computer room on a blow up mattress with a futon mattress on top, Taylor slept on the couch and Morgan decided the recliner was comfy so she slept there, Sydney, Cooper and Brice slept on the floor in the living room on pallets we made up.
Cooper with the silly looking eyes and Brice so tired..

Here are a few shots of the kids eating

Morgan loves to do nails, so she set up a little shop on my bar and did my nails. So cute!! She's 11.

She does a good job!!

Saturday evening Brice also made Nanny a stepping stone. I already have one from Tay, Morgan, Sydney and Cooper and picked up one for Brice to make me. Here they are making it. I will treasure it and the other's forever. They are in my back yard by the patio.

I got new glasses last week, as I had to have some changes made to my old ones and have a prism put in the left lense. Here they are on me. Do you like them?

Well Hope I didn't bore anyone to death! Hope everyone is rested up from their Thanksgiving. I have to remove the Thanksgiving outside decorations, and add some Christmas ones!! It has rained here for days, so haven't gotten out there yet. I do love Thanksgiving, so a few more days is OK...LOL..

God Bless~

sounds like you had a full house there!! Lots of fun and food, it's so wonderful to have these memories to carry in our hearts forever. And yes, I think you look great in your new glasses. AND, your house looks so pretty...we have the same taste in decor.

Sounds like you had quite a feast for Thanksgiving--not just food, but a feast of being with people you love!

I especially liked the nail salon that was set up in your home; how funny is that?

Enjoyed ALL the pictures.
