A dog's Purpose

A dog's Purpose (from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Brandon, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good

for six-year-old Brandon to observe the procedure. They felt as though Brandon might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Brandon seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Brandon,
who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.'

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me.

I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life --

like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The six-year-old

continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them

gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Friday

Here are some pics of our storm on September 14th. It lasted 6-8 hours with 80 mph winds. I didn't take a lot of pics as it was pretty scary but I snapped a few. I wish I had taken more. It was a hard clean up. These were taken at the beginning of the storm. 3 people were killed near us from trees falling on them, so I kept my head inside. I feel so sorry for those in Houston, Texas. If Ike could do this in Dayton, Ohio, I'd hate to be in Houston or the surrounding areas. My prayers and heart are with them. I have been through hurricanes before, living in Charleston, SC for 42 byears and thought I would never seen hurricane damage like this in Ohio.
God must really be trying to tell us something to have had that strength from Texas to Ohio. I read 3 books in the 9 days and David and I talked more than we have in a long time. We got to know our neighbors better and was humbled for sure. My neighbor next door had a generator, and they kept my insulin for me and kept our cell phones charged for us. We did lose all our food. A deep freeze full, and 2 refrigerators full. We had just got groceries and it has hit us hard!! Payday isn't until next week. David was also out of work for 4 days, because his store was closed, so things are tough!! It could have been worse and I am thankful we are OK. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers please.

Power outage due to a Hurricane in Dayton, Ohio!!!!!!

This will be short for now. I am back!!
On Sunday Sept 14th, we had a horrendous 6-8 hours of 80 MPH winds from Hurricane Ike. 300,000 plus lost their power. Some 9 days later, we finally got ours back on this afternoon. What a LONG 9 days and nights we had. I lost all food, etc. We need a new roof and lost trees. 9 nights without CPAP was hard. Little to no sleep.
I will be back with a regular blog soon.

God Bless~

Tuesday and clogged kitchen sinks, Grrrrrrrr...Prayer requests also.

I have a favor. Please everyone say some prayers for a DEAR blogging friend, Ness.
Her daughter Kiereney, is in the hospital, and Ness, Kiereney, and the entire family could use some prayers. Ness is such a wonderful lady and is not well herself. Please pray for them and keep them in your thought. Thanks so much. It means the world to me, and I am sure Ness and the family.

OK, now that I have posted that which is important, I will go on with my regular post.

Well, today David was off. As you know his days off are Tuesday's and Wednesday's. I fixed a nice pot roast, carrots, mashed potatoes. gravy and corn for dinner last night. We sat after he got home from work, and enjoyed our dinner. I got up to clean up, like us good wives do, LOL, and started washing out the dishes. Well, the sink would not drain. I got the plunger out, tried that, that didn't work. David tried and that didn't work either. I found a bottle of Drano and used it, waited the time it said plus some and thought that had cleared it. I started on the dishes again, and low and behold, the water wouldn't drain. Anyone who knows me, knows that I can not stand dirty dishes in my sink. I have OCD, about things like that. David once again tried to plunge it, and water was flooding my kitchen from under the washing machine. I cleaned that up and we went to bed, to try again today. It was a all day ordeal. David had to snake the thing, inch by inch. Finally at 8pm, we got it snaked out. When we pulled the snake out, black ucky stuff flew out all over the kitchen, on the ceiling, walls, my curtains, etc. What a mess. Needless to say, we are both worn out. My dishes are now clean and my kitchen is somewhat back in order. Please say a little prayer it stays unclogged. It was so hard on poor David, with his COPD to have to do this, but we had no money to call out Rotor Router, I probably spelled that wrong..LOL.

Here is my sink with the plunger.

Here is Bart trying to help Daddy...LOL

Poor David, had a heck of a time. He's a good man! He also has a bad shoulder. 2 tears in his rotator cuff, so it was also a painful job for him to do.

The job is done and he is now in his computer room, after a shower and is relaxing.

Have a great evening!!

God Bless~
